Become a Beta Tester on DeviantArt!
Join the beta testing program to help test and improve future DeviantArt features! Beta testing is a cornerstone of DeviantArt’s history, and beta testers benefit the community by providing feedback and usage data. Through bug reports and insight shared during the testing stages, beta testers can help shape and improve site features. Any deviant can become a beta tester by adding this journal to their favourites. :+fav: New Beta Testers are added daily; once you favorite this journal, you'll gain access the following day. If you decide later that you want to opt-out, you can do so by removing this journal from your favorites and you'll be removed the following day. :sherlock: How It Works Beta testers are among the first to see new features introduced to DeviantArt. This early access is provided so deviants can test new features and provide feedback for the DeviantArt team through comments, bug reports, and user engagement metrics before it's released sitewide. Unfair comparisons and being your own worst critic
(Full title: "Some about comparing yourself to others, and being your own worst critic", but that was too long.) We've all been there. We look at an artwork, and think "wow this person is much better than me! I wish I was that good!" or similar. And we can't think about a single thing which could be improved - this artist's work is just gorgeous. This can, unfortunately, also take the form of the much less encouraging "I'll never get that good". And we look at our own artworks, and we only see flaws - and when others tell us the artwork is good, we have trouble believing them. Or, when others say their art is bad, we sometimes don't get where that idea comes from - that other person's art is stunning, and how is it possible that they can't see it? The answer to this is, really, surprisingly simple: We tend to look at the bad things in our own work and the good things in others'. So when you compare your own artwork to somebody else's, the comparison is already flawed.
In recent days, the world has been shaken by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Our hearts go out — not only to the people of Ukraine and their families — but those all over the world who are feeling the effects of this difficult time. We hope the current situation will resolve quickly, as peacefully as possible. People all over the world are looking for ways to help, and DeviantArt wants to show our support for our Ukrainian artists and creatives, as well as everyone in surrounding nations who are opposed to the invasion. As the world watches the situation escalate in real-time, consider signal boosting or contributing to the following resources to help those in need. You're Invited To Try The New Sidebar
UPDATE: The opt-in period for the new sidebar has closed as of October 7th. Thank you to everyone who participated in this early opt-in period. The feedback we’ve received so far has been invaluable in helping us improve and optimize the sidebar. Please continue sharing your feedback! Moving forward, we’ll now be rolling out the new sidebar to a wider pool of deviants, so no more need to opt-in. Again, thanks so much to those who participated for helping us create a better DeviantArt experience! You’re invited to try a brand new sidebar that gives you quick access to some of your favorite features and groups! The Goal of The New Sidebar There are several ways to browse and consume content on DeviantArt, and with this update, our goal was to create a consistent experience across Browse (New and Popular), Search, Daily Deviations, Topics, Groups, and most importantly, deviants you watch. Bringing more attention to Groups was a big part of this update, and we have plenty more planned
If anyone ever makes you feel like you're useless, hopeless, or that you're not worth your skin. Just know...
No matter what you do, where you are, or who you are. You are beautiful and amazing, you're talented and wonderful. And you are loved so much. Don't ever let someone tell you who you are from an outside assumption. Because YOU know who you are, and YOU shine brighter than any image anyone has ever created for you. Keep being a beautiful gem by just being you. You shouldn't have to prove anything to anyone.
Love you guys <3
